New Metro Timetables Starting on 10 January 2016 Available Now

Metro Tasmania has released new timetables for Hobart and surrounds following the most comprehensive review of its Hobart network in over 30 years.

The new timetables will take effect from 10 January 2016 and are the result of extensive community consultation and professional planning over the past 18 months.

Speaking about the release of new timetables Metro Tasmania CEO Stuart Wiggins said the new network would make public transport in Hobart faster, smarter and easier.

“We received hundreds of submissions from the public throughout the process of completing this review and were pleased to find that close to 75% of respondents were either supportive or not affected by the changes. This tells us we have got it right and the modernised network suits Hobart’s current needs.

Mr Wiggins said the new network is more efficient by offering more direct and express services, better connections at main interchanges and increased weekend services in some areas.

“As a mass public transport provider Metro needs to ensure we maximise our resources to benefit Hobart as a whole and so we are pleased that the new network allows us to service new areas of Summerleas, Oakdowns and Camelot Park.

“With higher frequency services on key routes including a new Turn Up and Go service linking Shoreline and Hobart CBD, Hobart is better connected than ever before

“We encourage customers to take a look at the new timetables and plan their travel on the new network before it takes effect. Metro representatives will be out in the community assisting customers in the lead up to changes.

“We would like to thank the community for its contribution to this important review and we are excited by the improvements it will deliver to Hobart’s travelling public,” Mr Wiggins said.
