Occasionally Metro is asked to modify one of its services to meet the needs of a student with disabilities. Some flexibility may exist with a “school only service”, but it is not appropriate to divert or modify general route services.

 However, the student may qualify for special transport assistance from the Department of Education. In the case of services in Metro’s areas of operation this may involve the provision of a specialized taxi service, or the provision of an escort to travel on the bus with the child.
