Hobart Northern Suburbs Southern Hobart
Following consultation with the Department of State Growth, Department of Education and affected schools, Metro will make a small number of alterations to school bus services from the start of Term One, 2021.
SOUTH HOBART PRIMARY SCHOOL
Metro will operate an additional afternoon school bus service for South Hobart Primary from the start of the 2021 school year.
The new service, to be numbered Route 288PM, will travel via the same route as the existing Route 258PM school bus between South Hobart Primary and Fern Tree. It will depart the school at 3.05pm and is scheduled to arrive at Fern Tree terminus at 3.29pm. Route 258 from Taroona High to Fern Tree will continue to operate on its existing route and timetable via South Hobart Primary at the start of Term One, in order to allow patronage and capacity to be monitored.
Route 288 will operate for an initial trial period of six months. The timetable for this service is available on the South Hobart Primary School services page on the Metro website.
To assist with students requiring connections to regional services, Route 242PM which previously travelled from Dominic College to Metro Springfield via Glenorchy Interchange will be modified from the start of the 2021 school year.
Route 242PM will now depart Dominic College at 3.25pm, then travel EXPRESS to Glenorchy Interchange Stop G, then EXPRESS to the City (Elizabeth St – Franklin Square opposite Town Hall). The expected arrival time at Franklin Square is 3.55pm.
Students who previously caught Route 242 to Metro Springfield to transfer to other services should instead catch Route 242 to Glenorchy Interchange and transfer there for other services.
