Metro Tasmania is providing free bus travel on all services for veterans, war widows and currently serving Australian Defence Force personnel on ANZAC Day.

Monday 25 April 2016 is a gazetted public holiday and Metro’s Sunday/Public Holiday service schedule will be in place.

Speaking about the services for the day, Acting CEO of Metro Tasmania, Alan Pedley said “Metro Tasmania is a long term supporter of ANZAC Day activities through providing free travel on services for the day for those that have previously or currently serve our country.

“We are pleased to offer a small token of appreciation to those that dedicate their lives to serving our country in the armed forces.

“Their work is essential for the ongoing safety and security of our nation and all of us at Metro Tasmania are thankful for their ongoing commitment and bravery.

“Those looking at utilising our services on ANZAC Day should ensure they are aware of the public holiday schedule and plan their journey using timetables or the journey planner which are available on the Metro website, at the Hobart Metro Shop or Metro depots, our call centre or on the Metro app,” Mr Pedley said.

To claim free travel, passengers must either wear uniform, service medals, an ex-service association, returned from active service or war widows’ badge, or present a DVA card.
