Metro Tasmania will once again offer free bus travel across Hobart, Launceston and Burnie on Christmas Day, supporting Tasmanians to connect with family, friends and essential services during the holiday period.
The Sunday/public holiday timetable will operate on Thursday 25 December, with all Metro services fare-free for the entire day.
Acting CEO Laurie Hansen said the initiative is part of Metro’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it serves.
“Christmas Day can be a busy and important time for many Tasmanians, and we want to make it easier for people to travel safely and comfortably,” Mr Hansen said.
“By offering free travel, we hope to give customers one less thing to worry about as they connect with loved ones or access important services on the day.”
Mr Hansen also extended his thanks to the Metro team members working across the holiday period.
“I’d like to acknowledge our drivers and operational staff who keep Tasmania moving, even on Christmas Day. Their ongoing dedication allows us to continue supporting the community throughout the festive season.”
Metro encourages customers to check their local timetable ahead of travel using the Metro Trip Planner tool on Metro’s website or the Metro Tas App.
