Metro has decided to waive fares for all passengers on Christmas Day.
Metro’s Chief Executive Officer Heather Haselgrove said today people could travel free on
all services in Hobart and Launceston on Christmas Day.
“Metro operates to Sunday and public holiday timetable on Christmas Day in Hobart and
Launceston and in the spirit of Christmas, we will not be charging fares,” Ms Haselgrove
said.
“We’re hoping that by providing a fare free Christmas Day people will use the buses to
travel safely and comfortably to visit their families, access services or just take a trip and
that the experience will encourage them to use buses on a more regular basis,” she said.
Metro will operate additional services on Boxing Day in Hobart and additional Nightrider
services on New Year’s Eve in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie.
Buses are operating to a weekday vacation timetable today and tomorrow and a
Sunday/Public Holiday timetable for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day in
Hobart and Launceston.
No bus services will operate in Burnie on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Sunday 29 December
or New Year’s Day.
Metro would like to wish all customers a happy and safe Christmas and New Year.
