HOBART: Services Changing – City to Casino Fun Run & Walk

The City to Casino Fun Run & Walk will take place on Sunday morning, with runners travelling from Goodwood to Wrest Point Casino. Roads along the route will be temporarily closed, and some bus services will be affected.

🕗 Event details

• Start time: 8:00 am (from three locations)
• Finish: Wrest Point Casino, Sandy Bay
• Start locations:
  • Brooker Highway & Goodwood Road, Glenorchy
  • Cornelian Bay, Queens Walk, New Town
  • Salamanca Place & Davey Street

Inbound bus services are not affected.

🚧 Road closures and traffic impacts

Roads will reopen progressively once runners have cleared the area. Closures mainly affect southbound and outbound traffic, as well as pedestrian crossings.

7:45 – 8:40 am

• Brooker Highway (Strathaven Drive to Risdon Road) – southbound only
• Cornelian Bay / Queens Walk area, including access to:
  • Marine Terrace
  • Rugby Park
  • Selfs Point Road
  • Cornelian Bay Cemetery

7:45 – 9:30 am

• Domain Highway & Lower Domain Road (Government House area)
• Tasman Highway:
  • Left lane eastbound (Davies Avenue to Lower Domain Road)
  • Both westbound lanes (McVilly Drive to Davey Street/Brooker Avenue)
    • Traffic diverted via Liverpool Street
• Davey Street – westbound left lane only (Brooker Avenue to St David’s Park)
• Salamanca Place (Gladstone Street to Davey Street)

⚠️ These closures affect access to: Hobart Waterfront, Cenotaph, Hunter Street, Mures Car Park, Argyle Street, Elizabeth Street, Murray Street and Salamanca Place.

7:45 – 10:00 am

• Sandy Bay Road (Davey Street to Drysdale Place)
  • Outbound traffic only affected
• Domain Highway closed for direct city access in and out

🚌 Bus service changes (outbound services only)

Affected routes

401, 402, 427, 428, 449, 457

Temporary route changes

• Buses will travel via Franklin Square → Murray Street → Davey Street
• Bus stops between Murray Street and Salamanca Place will be closed
• Customers should use:
  • Franklin Square, or
  • Davey Street stops 4 & 5 (past Sandy Bay Road)

Sandy Bay impacts

• All outbound stops on Sandy Bay Road (Davey Street to Nelson Road) and York Street will be closed during the event.

Route‑specific details

• 449 & 457: Resume normal route after Antill Street
• 401: Resumes normal route after Churchill Avenue
• 402, 427 & 428:
  • Turn left into Nelson Road → Sandy Bay Road, then rejoin normal route
